Romanian Senators meet in extraordinary session to rule on high corruption cases

Romanian Senators meet on Monday 1 pm until Thursday, August 28 in an extraordinary session to debate the high corruption cases in which former minister Codrut Seres and current Labor minister Paul Pacuraru are involved.
Senate speaker Nicolae Vacaroiu declared that group leaders reached a consensus and they will cast a favorable vote that will approve the investigation request made by anti-graft prosecutors. Vacaroiu declared that the vote will be secret.
According to the Senate’s internal regulations, half plus one votes are needed in order to approve the investigations against Seres and Pacuraru. Paul Pacuraru is investigated for bribe taking while Seres is accused of economic espionage against state’s interests.
