Romanians in Florence form political party

The ceremony for the launching of this new party took place in the famous Palazzo Vecchio in Florence and was attended to by several major political figures of Italy, including Alberto Formigli (the Democrat Party) and Giovanni Varrasi (the Greens).
„The community citizens have the right to vote and may be elected in cities where they reside” said Varrasi. The Green leader added that „Europa Progress already existed, as cultural association. Now, Romanians in Italy want to matter more in a political manner”.
According to the founders, Europa Progress intends to gain an important statute on the political scene and may involve in the future elections. The Romanian community in Florence counts some 600 people.
Romanian immigrants in Italy already have a political formation, the „Romanian Identity”, formed in 2006.
