Romania’s current account deficit of the balance of payments dropped in the first two months of the year by 75.5% compared to the similar period last year, to 614 million euro, Romania’s National Central Bank reveals.
The current account deficit continued to drop significantly after in January it registered a 54.6% decrease. The deficit of the current commercial balance amounted to 59.5% compared to January – February 2008 and largely caused the current account deficit.
The revenues deficit totaled 692 million euro in the mentioned period, a 14.1% decrease compared to the first two months of 2008 while the service and goods balance registered a deficit of 894 million euro compared to 2.23 billion euro last year, in the similar period.
