Romania’s Interior Ministry postponed lay offs scheduled for April 1st
Romania’s Interior Ministry postponed lay offs initially scheduled for April 1st since the institution has the money to pay all employees, the institution’s spokesperson Marius Militaru declared quoted by Romanian news agency Mediafax. According to Military, all employees should know that the ministry has the resources to pay salaries.
He said that solutions were found to ensure that all employees can be paid until the implementation of a law on special measures which will establish clearly the conditions and criteria referring to lay offs. According to the budget, 7,900 people will be laid off for savings this year to reach about 141,000 employees. In the second part of the year, another 10,000 people from the public order personnel will be laid off.
However, Interior minister Igas said that about 9,000 people will be laid off from the ministry and not 18,000 as the press rumours.
