Romania's President Traian Basescu: 2008 will be remembered in history as a crisis year

Romania’s president Traian Basescu declared on Wednesday, as he greeted the accredited Diplomatic officials in Bucharest that, for the international community, 2008 will be remembered in history as a year of crisis. However, he added that 2009, even if just as complex as the previous one, will be the year where most confirmations will be offered: authorities will move from abstract debates to concrete solutions to the most stringent problems like the energy one.

Moreover, he declared that 2009 needs to be a year characterized by vision and political will to implement measures that will counter the effects of the crisis. Moreover, he added that for Romania, the partnership with US is a fundamental element and it plans to fully cooperate with the Washington administration to confirm the stability of the trans-Atlantic relation.
