Russia elected President Dmitri Medvedev warns against NATO expansion

Russia’s elected President Dmitri Medvedev has said that his country was not delighted at the though that Ukraine and Georgia might join NATO structures, BBC informs. In an interview for Financial Times, the Russian leader said that this move might affect Europe’s security.

One of the issues on the agenda of the NATO Summit in Bucharest in early April is to set up strategies for Georgia and Ukraine to enter NATO. Medvedev said that the Ukrainian people do not agree to be part of NATO, despite the moves of their government.

American President George W. Bush will travel to Ukraine before attending the Summit in Bucharest, Romania where he will discuss Ukraine’s possibility to join NATO military structures.
