HotNews.ro

The frozen conflict between Moscow and Tbilisi seems to gain shape rapidly. The Russian Foreign Ministry informed through a press release that the Russian troops in Abkhazia will be supplemented as a response for that what Russian experts define as „Georgia preparing for a military intervention in the area”. Georgia officials reacted promptly, showing that their troops in Abkhazia are just the same ass always, Russia using a false excuse to increase its military presence.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Russia is not looking to start a war, but tries to prevent a frozen conflict become active.

The pro-West Georgian president, Mikhail Saakashvili, currently in the middle of his electoral campaign, addressed on Tuesday night the citizens in Abkhazia and South Ossetia, showing that „an irresponsible force wants to draw us into a conflict that may be devastating for us and beneficial for them”.

Russia has some 3,000 troops in Abkhazia.

A NATO spokesperson declared that the situation is reason for worries, the troops supplementation being a move that will contribute to the growing tensions in the area.
