Sources: President Basescu declared that the budget cannot afford to maintain a 2 year maternal leave aid 

President Basescu declared on Monday, in a meeting with members of the coalition that budgetary resources cannot afford to maintain a 2 year maternal leave aid and suggest that this period should be cut to 1 year, Romanian news agency Mediafax reads.

Talks on the maternal leave were not finished and the debate is heated among Parliamentary parties.

Leaders of the coalition agreed on Sunday night that the maternal leave should be maintained for 2 years.
