Steaua football team owner under scrutiny of anticorruption body

The Anticorruption Department is investigating the owner of the Steaua football team Gigi Becali for tax dodging the football players’ payments, according to the chief prosecutor of DNA Daniel Morar.

Steaua reached the semifinals of the UEFA Cup. The owner of the club motivated the players with high sums of money, allegedly not recorded in documents.

The case is now analysed by the prosecutors. Morar also ensured that other football teams’ owners are under the scrutiny of the DNA.
