Stock Exchange suspends Banca Carpatica shares from transaction due to Commerzbank takeover rumors
The Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) suspended on Wednesday the transaction of the Carpatica bank, after the launching of a rumor claiming that Commerzbank, the second largest German bank as assets, discusses the takeover of the Romanian institution. At the suspension moment, the Carpatica titles recorded a 15% growth, compared to the Tuesday closing price.
„Despite all speculations, there are no discussions at the moment regarding the involvement on Commerzbank in the Banca Comerciala Carpatica social capital”, said Nicolaie Hoanta, BCC general manager, in a press release later in the day.
According to sources quoted by Mediafax and published by Ziarul Financiar, the German bank Commerzbank is currently negotiating with Banca Carpatica and may begin discuss about an agreement sometime this fall.
