Several thousand people, mostly youngsters, convened before the headquarters of the Presidency of the Moldova Republic to protest the results of the general elections last weekend, which handled the governing Communists another four years in power, according to Unimedia.md.

The source said protesters, which were chanting anti-communist slogans, convened following a viral campaign on Twitter, YM and other Internet channels. The message proclaimed April 6 a day of mourning for the Republic of Moldova and called on people who did not vote for the Communists to come out in downtown Chisinau, candle in hand.

Also on Monday, the head of the opposition Liberal Democratic Party in Moldova, Vlad Filat, said his party did not recognize the results of the elections – won by the communists with some 50% of the vote – and announced the organization of protests along with two other opposition groups, according to Timpul newspaper.
