The Polish economy was not facing danger following the plane crash in which the country’s president and other top officials lost their lives this weekend, Michal Boni, head of a group of aides working for the Polish prime minister, has said, quoted by Reuters.

The governor of the Polish central bank, Slawomir Skrzypek, was aboard the plane that crashed in Russia. Deputy governor Piotr Wiesliolek would serve as head of the institution for an interim period following Skrzypek’s death.

The monetary policy committee was due to convene on April 12 to discuss procedures following recent events.

Anna Zielinska-Glebocka, member of the committee, was quoted as saying that the death of the government would have no influence on the evolution of the Polish national currency.
