Turkey attacks Kurd rebels in Northern Iraq
Turkey bombed on Thursday several camps of the Kurd rebels in the Kurd Labor Party (PKK), camped in Northern Iraq. According to Iraqi officials, the Turkish army mobilized tens of thousands of soldiers along the Iraqi border and conducted several commando and air raid missions across the border, targeting Kurdish camps.
The bombing begun at 11:00h (local time), targeting an isolated area in the Khakurk mountains.
The Government in Ankara announced on Tuesday that Turkey considers a terrestrial operation against Kurdish rebels, blamed for the death of 40,000 since the fight for independence in South-East Turkey began, in 1984.
