Ukraine Defense Minister: Romania's espionage accusations will be answered adequately
The Ukrainian Defense Minister, Yuri Yehanurov, declared on Thursday that the response his country will give to the espionage accusations formulated against one of its citizens will be „adequate”, the online journal RBK informs. The statement comes after the Romanian authorities arrested on Monday a Romanian military and a Bulgarian citizen, both of the suspect of espionage in favor of Ukraine.
The military was accused of selling the Bulgarian classified information – maps and tactical data referring to military compounds and radar antennas. The Bulgarian allegedly sent the information to an employee of the Ukrainian Embassy in Bucharest.
According to some information, the Ukrainian military attaché was expelled from Romania. Unofficial information say that president Traian Basescu postponed his visit to Ukraine, scheduled for February 25-26, because of this incident.
