Unions: General strike at Metrorex if salaries drop by 25%
Staff working for Metrorex, the tube authority, threatens to call a general strike if the salaries are reduced by 25% starting June 1, like the Government announced. The announcement was made by the Tube Free Unions Assembly president Ion Radoi, quoted by Agerpress.
Tube union members claim they will be forced to act, according to the current legislation, to defend the rights won, including calling a general strike.
Representatives of the Tube Free Unions Assembly also say that Metrorex is a state unit, but not part of the public sector. Plus, union representatives claim that tube staff is working increasingly harder from one day to the other, indicating as proof the increase in the number of passengers and the drop in the number of employees, which led with a 33% plus in work productivity.
