Update: Official toll indicates 153 casualties in Madrid plance crash
A plane owned by Spanair went off the track during the take-off maneuvers on the Madrid International Airport and crushed nearby. According to Spanish emergency services, quoted by El Mundo, 153 people died and 19 were injured in the accident. The list of passengers includes a Romanian name, Carmen Ciprian.
The plane, a MD-90 model, was flying towards the Canary Islands, in Las Palmas. Sources quoted by CNN say that the right engine of the plane burst into flames during take-off. The weather conditions were normal at the time,. same CNN informs.
