Vladimir Putin: NATO enlargement means new Berlin Wall
Russian PM Vladimir Putin has compared NATO plans to expand eastwards by including Ukraine and Georgia with the establishment of new borders in Europe and the emergence of a new Berlin Wall, Le Monde reports, quoted by Romanian news agency Mediafax. Putin said in an interview with the French newspaper that global problems such as terrorism and organized crime cannot be dealt with within a closed political-military alliance but through world-level cooperation.
NATO enlargement means drawing new borders in Europe, the appearance of a new Berlin Wall, an invisible one this time – but just as dangerous, Putin said.
And he recalled that 80% of Ukrainians oppose joining NATO.
