PM Boc „buys” peace in his party with money from the state budget. Elsewhere in the news, Romanians buy flats in Bulgaria, after the crises brought prices down 40%. Further in the news, the state borrowed almost all the capital allocated by banks. Last but not least, the 1989 Revolution dossiers could not be finalised so far due to the strong political pressures over the last 20 years.

PM Boc „buys” peace in his party, PDL, with money from the state budget, Evenimentul Zilei informs. The deduction for LibDems, unhappy with the distribution of the ministries, is 70.000 euros per collegian. The decision comes after PM Emil Boc was criticised both by the PDL leadership and the LibDem MPs for his new cabinet.

The money is covered by the 2010 state budget law amendments and is meant for school, churches and roads repairs. Sources say that for the 240 votes supporting Boc Cabinet, the new government pledged to allocate 16.8 million euros from the state budget. This is the identical reproduction of last year’s strategy in the PSD coalition, under Finance minister Gheorghe Pogea.

But Transylvanian LibDem leaders were still not given satisfaction: despite scoring over 60% in presidential elections, they have no minister. They also criticised the fact that the Agriculture portfolio was awarded to an independent – Mihai Dumitru, recommended by Dacian Ciolos, European commissioner for Agriculture.

Ex-Education minister Senator Hardau claimed that in PDL some were working for votes and others were into the people trafficking business. Pressed by the arguments in his party, PM Emil Boc declared that no one was to grow old in their roles and promised a reshuffle even before the Cabinet was elected.

Romanians buy flats in Bulgaria, Adevarul reads. Holiday residences in Bulgaria have gone down in price by 40% in the regions close to the Romanian border, due to the economic crisis. A year ago, one square meter cost around 1.300 euros. Now, in areas like Sunny Beach and Balchik, 1 sqm sells even for 480 euros. Romanians have contracted over 100 flats lately, despite the fact that in Romania flats are not selling well.

Fees didn’t drop for the high-class flats, but for the mean-priced. In Sunny Beach – the biggest resort on the Bulgarian beach, Romanians mainly buy two-room apartments, of approximately 50 sqm, for 25.000 euros VAT included. The financing can be obtained directly from the site developer, with rates stretching over a maximum of 15 years, no interest charged during the first three.

The state borrowed almost all the capital allocated by banks, Cotidianul informs. Thus, the banks could be less receptive towards a comeback of their exposure in Romania in the parameters agreed with the IMF. The public debt is still under 30% so, theoretically, there’s still space for borrowing.

Out of the nine banks that pledged to keep their exposure on the Romanian market at the level from March 2009, only three – EFG Eurobank, Alpha Bank and Volksbank – maintained a similar or bigger value in regards to the Wien agreement and two preserved over 99% of the exposure, sources declared for NewsIn.

In some cases, banks found it impossible to preserve the exposure because the exposure towards the Romanian state was used entirely. In other cases, the low demand on the private capital and the difficult environment are to blame. The nine banks that promised to preserve their exposure in Romania are Erste Group, Raiffeisen International, Eurobank EFG, National Bank of Greece, UniCredit Group, Société Générale, Alpha Bank, Volksbank and Piraeus Bank.

On December 22, 20 years after the Romanian 1989 Revolution, military prosecutor Dan Voinea claims that the Revolution’s dossiers could not be finalised so far due to the strong political pressures over the last 20 years, Romania Libera reads. He indicated that, during Ion Iliescu’s presidency mandates, investigations were not possible because those taking over power were people from the ex-communist administration. They had no interest in answering for their repression.

According to the general in reserve, there were constant pressures for the nominations of the Justice minister and the head of the General Prosecutors’ Office and the people managing the issue in the Justice system. He claims the December 22 1989 victims are on the consciousness of the immediate power shift: the new leaders continued to use war weapons against the Revolutionaries who took over the communist administration headquarters, Dan Voinea said, quoted by ziare.com.

The good news, he says, is that the Revolution dossiers are 80% completed, meaning there is a guilty part for 80% of the victims. Dan Voinea confessed he did not regret taking part in the mock trial of the Ceausescu couple because he had not been informed they were to be shot afterwards. The decision to hold the trial on Christmas day was taken by a group including Ion Iliescu, Petre Roman, general Stanculescu, Gelu Voican Voiculescu and Silviu Brucan.
