Chinese students trained to keep up the atmosphere at the Beijing Olympics

Some 800,000 Chinese students were trained like soldiers to keep up the audience atmosphere at the Olympics because organizers feared that the public will not be able to maintain the Olympics’ spirits.

448 volunteers joined the audience, undercover to determine reactions especially at the grand opening ceremony. Students received a low cost entrance ticket and in exchange they had to learn when to clap and coordinate their actions.
