HotNews.ro

The Bulgarian Teachers Union head Yanka Takeva announced on Monday that 80 schools will be closed down, a measure the Bulgarian local councils took across the country, Novinite informs. Approximately 1,500 teachers will lose their job.

There are currently approximately 80,000 retired teachers in Bulgaria. Every year, the Bulgarian educational system sees 2,500 teachers concluding their career and retiring.

The ages of 50,000 of the retired teachers and professors range between 58 and 60 and could receive new certificates that would allow them to teach again.

Takeva’s statement was made one day prior to a rally organised to take place in Sofia, Bulgaria’s capital, where teachers will come and join from all Bulgarian regions. They will request higher salaries and supplementary governmental funds for students.
