Russian official: Diplomats crisis may have economic effects

HotNews.ro

The head of the Russian Duma foreign policy committee Konstantin Kosachov warns that the spiral of a diplomatic conflict this week in which Russia, then Romania expelled diplomats may extend to economy, according to Rusnovosti.ru. He is quoted as saying that should Russian claims prove founded while Romania’s wouldn’t, it may lead to worsening bilateral relations with effects not only on politics, but also on economy.

Kosachov said the Romanian diplomat retained in Moscow earlier this week and then expelled to Bucharest obtained information for NATO, not for Romania. And he noted that it happened to be a Romanian diplomat at a time when Romania has not had a significant role in geopolitical games and ambitions, as the country had interests in the Republic of Moldova.
