The current account deficit continued to decrease, reaching after the first five months to 2.86 billion euro
The current account deficit of the balance of payments increased in the first five months by 45.7% compared to the similar period, last year to 2.86 billion euro, Romania’s National Central Bank data reveals. In the January May 2009, the current account deficit was 1.96 billion euro.
The current account deficit restarted increasing after the first two months of the year, 13 months of correction. The commercial balance deficit decreased by almost 12%. Romania’s foreign debt reached 87.08 billion euro, a 8.6% increase compared to the last year’s end.
