Old correspondence between former Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu and his Libyan counterpart Gaddafi reveals the obsessions of the two leaders at the time, Evenimentul Zilei writes. In a letter back in 1973, Ceausescu proposed Gaddafi to have the two countries involved in a peace making process in the Middle East.

At the time, Romania was the only country in the Eastern block to maintain diplomatic relations with Israel as part of its independence of the Soviet Union. However, the two leaders saw things quite differently as in response, Gaddafi was keen to see that other countries bear the prices of peace other than the Arab peoples.

The two leaders met in February 1974 at Tripoli, which had many favorable consequences in economic terms: Libyan oil for Romania, Romanian engineers and workers for the Libyan industry.

A gift from Ceausescu, the original manuscript of the first Romanian translation of the Koran, kicked off relations between the two leaders, the newspaper reads as the two referred to each other as brothers from there on.

Their good relations continued for a couple of years when the difference of opinions became visible as Ceausescu talked about peace making in the region while Gaddafi had his own contrasting plans.

Elsewhere in the news, Gandul reads that Romanian officials mismanagement public tenders worth 9.5 billion euro in 2010. There were 2,047 wrong public tenders according to official reports. 603 cases of the 2,047 tenders, officials canceled them. They were worth 2.72 billion euro.

The newspaper reads that the fact that the tenders were canceled means that the file and the tender should have been modified so much that the only solution was to cancel them. In other words, institution did not respect procedures in tenders on public money.

Social Democrats and Liberals decided to submit a motion of censure against the Boc government, after the latter will take responsibility for the new Labour Code, Evenimentul Zilei reads. Social Democrats urged Democratic Liberal deputies to vote for the motion of censure in a duty for those who sent them in the Parliament.

Ponta said that the Boc government is unable to adapt laws through Parliamentary debates and this would be the 11th time when the government passes a law by taking responsibility for it in the Parliament.

Romania libera reads that Romanians can now access yahoo.ro and can create an afferent email address. The page contains the same services as the English version of the website. A Gogol Bordello concert will be organized to mark the event.
