In Romanian thousands of state employed gathered on the streets to protest against the government’s decision to cut salaries and pensions. It is estimated that over 30,000 people gathered at the protest against the 25% salary cut and the 15% pension cut – measures announced recently by the government, BBC informs.
Thousands of people assaulted Bucharest streets. Romania needs to decrease public spending to receive the next 8 million euro installment from the IMF aid. Unions however argue that common people have to suffer because of the politicians’ irresponsible governance. Romania plans to decrease its fiscal deficit from 7.2 percentage points in 2008 to 6.8 percentage points in 2011, Euronews reads.
Tens of thousands of people gathered downtown Bucharest to protest against the government’s decision, Novinite reads. The protest is reported to be the biggest since the revolution.
