The current account deficit deepened by 40.3% in the first four months to 2.06 billion euro

Romania’s current account deficit increased in the first four months of the year with 40.3% compared to the similar period, last year to 2.06 billion euro, Romania’s National Central Bank data reveals. In January – April 2009, the current account deficit was 1.46 billion euro.

The current account deficit started to grow after the first two months of the year, after 13 months of correction. The current account deficit was influenced byt the current transfers, which dropped by 61.2%.
