Fiscal evasion in Romania represents 34% of GDP
Fiscal evasion in Romania reached a concerning 35% of GDP, Liberal Dan Radu Rusanu declared, quoting international reports, Agerpres informs. Liberal Senator said that a 10% decrease in fiscal evasion will avoid the austerity measures imposed by the government. He claims that fiscal evasion was 18% of GDP in 2008.
The Boc government was signaled by the EU and other international organizations to seek measures to decrease fiscal evasion. Rusanu said that Romania’s public debt in 2008 was 21.3% of GDP and in 2009 it increased to 33% of GDP.
