Republic of Moldova interim President Mihai Ghimpu apologizes in an interview for Info Rusia for the insults against Romania by the Voronin regime. He added that he hopes that the people will not vote representatives who cannot appreciate relations among people, among states, who do not recognize their own language, culture and history.

Interim President Ghimpu said that relations among the two states are back to normal like in the first years of Moldova’s independence. Romania is not just a neighbor but is a state that has the same language, the same culture, history and identity and I do not think I will upset somebody when I say that we have very good relations with Romania, Ghimpu said.

However, he underlined that his attitude towards Romania does not mean that Moldova is against Russia or other states. In his opinion, Moldova is on the right track and the top priority is to join the EU and continue the democratization process.
