Trojan virus replacing Google AdSense

HotNews.ro

BitDefender specialists detected on Tuesday night a trojan virus that replaces GoogleAds with ads from another website posting web ads, a company press release announces. The modified file redirects the name of the domain toward another IP address so that the computers read the commercials from another website than Google.

The threat, identified as Trojan.Qhost.WU, changes the Hosts file of the host computer. Should the address corresponding to a domain name be found in the Hosts file, the system no longer appeals to a DNS.

BitDefender analyst Attila-Mihaly Balazs says that the virus affects both advertised sites and the users as the fake ads can send other pages that can contain other threats.
