HotNews.ro

Warsaw and Washington reached a preliminary agreement regarding the placing of elements of the American anti-rocket shield on Polish soil, the Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, announced on Thursday, in a TV intervention, AFP informs.

According to the agreement, the United States are allowed to place, before 2012, ten rocket interceptors able to destroy long-range ballistic rockets.

The system is connected to a powerful radar, which will be installed in the Czech Republic. The agreement with Prague officials has been signed on July 8.

The agreement with Poland is part of a wide US project, leading to the installation of anti-rocket devices in all Central Europe, to protect the European and American soil from potential attacks from unpredictable countries such as North Korea or Iran. Russia firmly opposes the project, considering it a threat to its own security.
