In Spain, Romanians are the immigrants who avoid the effects of the crisis

Romanian immigrants in Spain manage to avoid the effects of the economic crisis, Spanish magazine Cinco Dias reads. In 2009, the number of foreigners who contributed to social insurances dropped by 5% but Romanians were the ones to adapt faster to the recession.

45,000 new Romanian immigrants paid their social insurances and most left the constructions sector to join the agrarian one. A similar tendency was registered among Bulgarian immigrants.

The economic crisis affected social insurance services as well. Over 1.9 million foreign employees paid their dues in 2008 and a year later the numbers dropped to more 1.8 million.
