Rome police officers undertook a complex operation in Rome’s biggest improvized camp on Thursday. At least 50 people were arrested because they did not have identity cards, news agency Ansa informs. Some 700 people, including Romanians, Serbs and Bosniacs live in the improvized camp located in Rome’s Eastern outskirts, AFP reads.

The newly formed Berlusconi government will adopt a series of measures to counter illegal immigration. Rome’s Mayor, Gianni Alemanno promised that laws concerning immigrants will be more severe as he plans to expel some 20,000 immigrants who breached the law.
