Fines sent home for traffic offences abroad

The Transport Commission of the European Parliament approved a law draft allowing car drivers to be sanctioned in their home-countries for traffic offences made outside the national borders. Four types of traffic offences will be included in the future law: driving under the influence, not wearing the seat belt, crossing the red light and crossing the speed limit. The maw may come into force at the end of 2009.
