Italy extended for another year restrictions for Romanian and Bulgarian workers
Italy extended for another year restrictions for Romanian and Bulgarian workers, joining the other 10 EU member states that continue to apply their national law regarding the access to the labor market.
The transition regime was postponed until December 31, 2009, Rador informs. According to the Italian daily La Repubblica, 11 EU member states informed the Commission about their decision. Thus, Romanian and Bulgarian workers are allowed to enter the labor markets of only 14 states in Europe.
In Italy, there are no restrictions for those working temporary in constructions, agriculture or tourism, for maids and housekeepers and for the qualified personnel. However, restrictions still apply for all other sectors where Romanians can get a job only after they obtain a working permit.
