Romania will guarantee banking savings up to 50,000 euro

Tariceanu added that he talked about this measure with Romania’s Central Bank Governor, Mugur Isarescu. Over 95% of the deposits are already covered by the current limit of 20,000 euro. On Tuesday, European Finance ministers reached an agreement to increase the minimum guarantee limit for savings accounts of the population.

Romania’s Central Bank spokesperson Mugur Stet declared that once the EU approves the decision, this will be integrated into the Romanian legislation.
