Romanian President on Europe Day: Lately we keep hearing voices blaming Europe and Brussels for almost everything / It's the easiest discourse

HotNews.ro

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis used an event to mark Europe Day on Wednesday to criticise „voices” in Bucharest who „are very easily blaming Europe and Brussels for almost everything”. He said this was the easiest discourse for those who are disturbed by European standards of authentic democracy.

He said that without democracy, state of law, fair legislation there would be no prosperity or wealth for the majority of people, but only privileges for a narrow group in power.

He made the speech at an event where both the head of the National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA) Laura Codruta Kovesi, and PSD leaders Liviu Dragnea and Viorica Dancila were present. Senate speaker Calin Popescu Tariceanu refused to attend the event.
