Spain and France reached a compromise on immigration in Europe

HotNews.ro

France and Spain have finally reached a compromise in Madrid last night on the European immigration pact, official French sources declared, quoted by AFP.The project plans increased measures on European immigration policies and seeks to implement some common regulations for all 27 EU member states.

There were several disagreements between French and Spanish delegations on the integration contract and forbidding massive regulations. The text draws on the selective immigration concept, promoted by French President Nicolas Sarkozy since 2003 which presumes that immigration should be privileged on job grounds.

The text will be officially presented in Cannes on 7-8 July, 2008 in an official reunion of the 27 ministers with authority in immigration problems. France hopes to adopt the document during the October 15 Summit.
