The Independent: I hope to meet someone like Elena Udrea if I will ever be caught in a natural disaster
When Romania’s Tourism and Regional Develpment minister Elena Udrea offered high heels to women in villages destroyed by floods, she gave them something more – a promise for a better future, British journalist Joan Smith said in the Independent on Sunday. The journalist notes that the gesture is a clear evidence of a higher understanding of human nature.
Until last week, I never heard of Elena Udrea, but now I want to give her a hug, the journalist reads. Elena Udrea, accompanied by a 20 tons convoy – a help for the sinistrates also brought about high heels. Smith notes that the gesture was followed by a wave of criticism and the minister revealed a superior understanding of the human nature.
A nice pair of high heels reminds people of another world, that someday they will be part of that world, the journalist said.
