PriewaterhouseCoopers: Managing wealth tax – too expensive
To introduce the Wealth Tax would not bring consistent benefits to the Romanian state due to very high administration costs, PriewaterhouseCoopers Mihaela Mitroi declared during a seminar of fiscal issues. According to her, the costs for following and collecting the tax would be too high in comparisons with the revenues.
Mitroi claims that other form of taxes could be introduced in Romania, like the tax on inheritance or tax on donations, as alternative to the tax on wealth. Mihaela Mitroi claims that other administrations in the European Union, which had had the wealth tax, gave the tax up shortly after enforcing it, because of very high costs.
This tax has been declared non-constitutional in Germany, considered a form of expropriation.
