Dacia restarts production with demand fallen to one quarter
Employees at the Dacia car producing facilities will return to work after a two weeks interruption of production during which they earned 85% of the individual wage. The Renault-owned factory faces a drastic loss of demands, both on the domestic and on foreign markets.
In 2009, the production will decrease by 300 units per day, while the producer takes into account further periods of ceased activity and even dropping one of the shifts. In this case, some 4,000 people would lose their jobs.
The production at Dacia had stopped before between October and January, the ceasing of production adding up to one month.
