Mutu's first declarations: I haven't done anything illegal
Tested positive for sibutramina, Romanian football player Adrian Mutu, present Fiorentina and ex-Chelsea, Mutu risks to be suspended for a maximum of four years. This would practically mean the end of his career. „I haven’t done anything illegal”, were the first words of Fiorentina’s striker after the new doping scandal around him.
„I’m under shock, I haven’t done anything illegal”, Mutu declared, quoted by Fiorentina’s official website. The Romanian player posted a message on his Facebook: „Some moment in life cannot be described in words. All that is to be cleared is that I’m innocent. I need peace to prepare my defence”.
„Sibutramina is listed among he forbidden substances, described as stimulants. It increases the heart rate, leading to a better irrigation and oxygenation. It is forbidden only during sport competitions. Today, even three days after its administration can be traced in the body. He will be subject to counter-expertise”, National Anti-doping Agency Graziela Vajaiala declared.
What is interesting is the fact that the Italians have already posted a survey to the club’s fans, asking them to select Adrian Mutu’s successor: Antonio Cassano (Sampdoria), Julio Baptista (Roma), Jeremy Menez (Roma), Giuseppe Rossi (Villarreal), Tommaso Rocchi (Lazio).
In other words, Mutu is going to be suspended by the Italian Football Federation for 60 days until the case is solved.
