OFICIAL: Final results in Ireland: Basescu 86.1%, Geoana 13.9%

Traian Basescu was voted by 2111 Romanian citizens of the total of 2363 Romanians that turned out to vote at the Romanian Embassy in Dublin, the only voting section in Ireland. The official and final results were communicated by the Romanian Embassy in Ireland.

According to Romania’s consul to Dublin, Dan Tudor, the number of registered voters is a record. At the first round of elections, on November 22nd, only 1336 Romanians voted.

Here are the final results after counting all votes in the second round:

• Turnout: 2463

• Void votes: 11

• Traian Basescu: 2111 votes – 86.10%

• Mircea Geoana: 341 votes – 13.90%
