Romania president Traian Basescu: The Romanian people is divided in two countries. Romania wishes that, after Moldova joins the European Union, all Romanians will be in one place

HotNews.ro

During his visit to South Korea, president Traian Basescu once again referred to Moldova. At the end of the meeting Basescu had with his homologue, the head of state said that „just like the Korean people, the Romanian people is divided in two countries. We wish Koreans to get to live in one Korea, and Romania wishes that once Moldova joins the European Union, the Romanian people will be all in one place”.

Basescu’s statement comes after a recent relaxation of the relationship between Romania and Moldova, after two years of political tensions. Basescu was repeatedly accused by the Moldova president, Vladimir Voronin, of involvement in the interior affairs of the Kishinev authorities.
