Unions continue to ask for a change in the unique income scheme and contest the Government assuming responsibility for the law
Unions are unhappy about the coefficients featured by the unique income scheme and request their modification. They say they don’t understand the Government’s rush and disagree with the Government taking responsibility for the law. After a 10 hours long session, the Executive decided on Wednesday night to take responsibility for the unique salary scheme, the education law and the restructuring of governmental agencies. The intention letter has already been sent to the Parliament.
Union Cartel Alfa vice-president Petru Dandea declared on Thursday for Romanian press agency Mediafax that certain corrections are necessary and that the law project should be submitted for discussions in the Parliament. He claims that the current formulation of the law does not respect its initial principle: „Equal wages for equal work”.
„We don’t understand why an accountant from the Education Ministry should be paid more than an accountant from the Work Ministry, or why a minister’s driver should earn twice the income of an ambulance driver”, the union leader said.
Petru Dandea said that he does not understand the Government’s rush, since the law is to be enforced only in 2012 or 2013 or maybe even later. Cartel Alfa requests the Executive to publish as soon as possible on the institution’s website the law projects for which the Executive is to assume responsibility.
