Vladimir Voronin: Romania was allowed to join the EU because it accepted two American military bases
Romania was not ready to join the EU but nevertheless it was accepted just because it agreed to host two American military bases on its territory, Vladimir Voronin declared during a television show at NIT, quoted by Unimedia.
A mandatory EU request is that countries need to have all border issues resolved and Romania did not comply with this requirement because it does not have a border treaty with Moldova, Voronin declared.
Plus, Voronin said, the border represents the border between two big political constructions: NATO and the CSI countries.
