Democrats change minds regarding VAT cut

HotNews.ro

The Democratic Party members changed their minds regarding the VAT cut they previously endorsed in the Senate last week, based on the revelation that the tax reduction from 19 to 9 percent would lessen the revenues to the state’s budget.

The Democratic leaders said that a change would be operated on the current draft law in order to benefit both the population and the producers, not only one of them according to Deputy Cristian Radulescu. PD deputy Costica Canacheu stated for Hotnews.ro that the current draft law poses a lot of problems and needs to be enhanced.

The Conservative Party’s initiative was endorsed by the Senate last week following the joint vote of the Conservatives, Democrats, Social Democrats and Greater Romania senators. The vote sparked a lot of criticism from the Liberals who accused the Democrats alliance fellows that had betrayed the government’s polices.

The D.A. Alliance is to meet this week and debate on the VAT draft law.
