Interior ministry general secretary Laurentiu Mironescu dismissed / He was picked up from Eforie to be brought to Bucharest

Interior Ministry Secretary General Laurentiu Mironescu was dismissed on Monday following a request of the Interior Minister Igas to the PM. The request was approved, Igas said after talks with the Prime Minister. Igas said that Mironescu will be replaced by Alexandru Dimitrina. Mironescu was picked up from his house in Eforie Sud to be brought for questioning in Bucharest following several raids in Constanta and Bucharest on Monday morning in a file of smuggling and fiscal evasion.

Several other persons are targeted in the same file, including Democratic Liberal Senator Mircea Banias. The two are partners in the same company in Constanta. According to Mediafax, Mironescu was former PDL deputy in 2004-2008. He was named secretary general in the Interior ministry on January 5, 2011.
