New warnings for floods in Romania
Romanian meteorologists issued a new yellow code for rains and storms for Tuesday, July 6, from 7.30 am to 9 pm. The warning addresses 14 counties from Maramures, North Moldova and Oriental Carpathians.
During the mentioned period of time, the weather instability will be high – rain, strong winds, electrical storms and hail. In isolated areas, water quantities will go above 25 litres per square metre.
Hydrologists extended the red code warning for floods on River Prut – on the sector which includes Botosani, Iasi and Vaslui counties and on the Sivita-Danube sector (Galati counties). The red code is also valid for River Siret, on the Sendreni – Danube sector (Galati county).
There was also an orange code on the Prut River, also on the sector affecting Galati county.
Another yellow code was issued for River Olt, on the Tomesti – Hogiz sector from Harghita and Covasna counties – affecting Harghita, Covasna, Brasov and Sibiu. The yellow code was also issued for River Suceava (Suceava county), Moldova River Gura Humorului affecting the counties of Suceava and Neamt; Bistrita River (Suceava, Neamt, Bacau), Trotus (Harghita and Bacau), Barlad River (Iasi, Vaslui, Galati), Baseu River (Botosani), River Jijia (Botosani and Iasi), Prut River (Botosani and Galati).
River debits are expected to increase above the danger limit, local floods and possible freshets.
