President Basescu confirms Codruta Kovesi for a renewed term as Prosecutor General

Romania President Traian Basescu signed a decree on Friday confirming Prosecutor General Codruta Kovesi for another three years in office, a presidential press release says. The decision comes as the Supreme Council of Magistrates opposed a proposal to rename Kovesi in office, but the Council opinion was consultative.

Justice minister Catalin Predoiu submitted the proposal to extend Kovesi’s time in office to President Basescu last Friday.
