69 police and customs officers from Moravita and Foeni customs indicted by anti graft prosecutors
Anti graft prosecutors indicted 69 police and customs officers working at Moravita and Foeni customs of which 38 are in temporary arrest. The 69 are accused of receiving, overall 82,200 euro bribe to favor illegal traffic of cigarettes from Serbia whose value is estimated at 3.3 million euro. The file will be judged at Timisoara, West Romania.
According to anti graft prosecutors, the accused received bribe in order to favor an organized crime network smuggle cigarettes from Serbia from October 2010 to January 2011. Usually the money collected was split evenly with all shift foremen who would then distribute the money to those involved in the operation.
