Expert Cezar Mereuta: for the first time in 11 years, commercial companies dominate the top 100 companies in Romania

Romania’s current pace of growth is confirmed by the offensive stand taken by commercial multinational companies on the market, Romania’s Economic Modeling Center vice president Cezar Mereuta concludes in an analysis based on the Top 100 companies published by FinMedia.

Mereuta added that from the main information included in the top, one can notice that the volume of gross profit increased continuously from 3.31 billion euro in 2006 to 4.22 billion euro, which denotes a notable performance, well above the 2007 GDP increase.

The analysis reveals that for the first time, all 12 companies that have profit rates of over 1 billion euro are multinational companies. The bad news is that the commercial companies took over the top: of the 10 newly entered companies in 2007, 7 have commercial activities and six of those who exit the top 100 were production companies.
